These good bacteria live in the gut as part of a healthy microbiome that’s involved in the digestion of nutrients.
Adequate nutrient levels are needed to deliver their intended benefits. The more accessible a nutrient is to the digestive tract, the easier it is for absorption.

Internal changes aren't always felt. By giving your body the routine nutrients it needs, you’re able to experience benefits that build each day.†
The SHIME model, which stands for Simulator of the Human Intestinal Microbial Ecosystem, is an in vitro model used in research to study the human gastrointestinal tract. It consists of a series of interconnected sections, called bioreactors, that mimic the physiological and biological conditions found in the human gut, including the stomach, small intestine, and colon.
Certain biological processes are extremely difficult to examine in humans without invasive procedures. The SHIME model provides a controlled environment that simulates the human gut, and gives us a reliable, repeatable environment to assess the effects of AG1 on the gut microbiome before progressing to human trials.
In a single-arm study, all participants receive the same treatment to assess its effects. In the study on AG1, all 35 participants drank AG1 each day for 3 months, and reported how they felt at consistent intervals. These studies provide us with valuable insight that will help inform and power the development of future research.
We conduct our studies with third-party experts to validate our design and data, and mitigate bias. For the set of SHIME studies, we used a pre-clinical research lab that offers best-in-class in vitro simulations of the human gastrointestinal tract and an extended team of scientists. For the single-arm study, we worked with a third-party clinical research center.
We also published our research and results in peer-reviewed journals, which requires a rigorous review and approval process by other experts within the scientific community.
We’ve spent over a decade in pursuit of creating the highest-quality Foundational Nutrition supplement. We think about quality through four considerations — research, sourcing, manufacturing, and testing — taking care at each step of the process to go above and beyond industry standards.
This includes relying on expert-led scientific research on AG1, sourcing ingredients for potency and purity, manufacturing at TGA-registered facilities, and testing for hundreds of contaminants and impurities. We verify our testing process with one of the most rigorous independent quality and safety certification programs, NSF Certified for Sport.
